Classes will run on 7th – 14th – 21st December and will start again on 4th Jan 2012.
Our weekly classes for this term will focus mainly on what we think are the most important aspect of Tango
Musicality
Elegance
Figures

Musicality: Music is the main reason why we dance. So, classes will provide you with all the tools you need to understand all aspects of Tango music and to develop the sensibility for a more musical and expressing dancing.
Elegance: Special attention will be given to the technique for an aesthetical and harmonious dance and to the ways to improve our coordination with our own body and the connection with the partner.
Figures: Because of our passion of Tango Culture and Tango History, we will work with authentic figures either invented or made famous by old acclaimed Milongueros of the golden era of Tango Salon, some of whom we have had the luck of learning from directly, and others who have passed their “gems” down the line through their younger disciples. CHOREOGRAPHY LABORATORY . Sunday 11th December from 12.00 to 1.30 Part I and 2.00 to 3.30 part II (Venue to be confirmed very soon)
Exciting figures and sequences to be executed when you feel like showing off in a Milonga or, why not, in front of an audience.
This is the most exciting project we are pleased to launch in London for 2011-2012.
Teaching around the world to different crowds, different tango communities, different cultures we have realized that even in communities with skilful dancers (movers) the relationship and interaction with Tango music proves to be the most difficult goal to achieve. And yet without this connection between bodies and music we are not close enough to the real spirit of Tango.
In trying to device new and effective methods of “teaching” musicality we have noticed that one particularly good way is to prompt students to listen to the music not only with their ears but also with their body.
And the best way of listening to music with one’s body is to repeat sequences to the same piece of music. Which is basically what choreography is about.
By building a choreography to a piece of music our body is prompted
- to familiarize deeply with every part of chosen song
- to connect it’s moves with every single part of that song, because every move will have to be executed on a specific note.
- to connect with the other dancers in the room who will have to execute the same moves at the same time.

On the other hand, in view of a couple of events in which we will be taking part in early 2012 we would like to form a group of dedicated students who feel like taking their Tango a “step further” and try the thrill of performing in front of an audience. Sunday 11th is just the first of a series of Choreographies workshops that will take place in January and February 2012. You can just follow one of them, but those who will take part in all workshops will complete a whole choreography and will join us in the performance. (first one due in February 2012)
Considering all the above we have designed this ongoing Choreography Laboratory with the following aims and objectives in mind:
- To educate our body to a deeper and more intimate connection with the Tango music
- To improve technique for the execution of more challenging moves
- To give passionate students an extra challenge in their Tango journey and to offer an outlet where their effort can be put to good use in a performance in front of an audience.

The missing details (such as venues for Weekend Workshops) will be added in further messages in the next few days, but in the meantime, if you would like to register you interest in one of the above activities please email stefano@tangoinaction.comor you can also post into our new facebook group Stefano y Gisela (Copy and paste this link in FB) http://www.facebook.com/groups/189668571109414/
